In the same year our organization diversified into the pharmaceutical industry with an investment of $20 million. Our pharma unit manufactures 14 types of orals and 5 types of IV fluids for both the Local and Export market.

We also makes pipes and tubes with a capacity of 60,000 tons/year and started production of plywood in the year of 2007, it produces about 400,000 sheets/year. In April 2017, we have ventured into the Hospitality sector by investing $150 million for six hotels in different parts of Sri Lanka.

The operations of the six hotels are carried out by Hilton and Double tree by Hilton. The strategic partnership is the largest expansion plan for a global hospitality company within the country.

We have also installed 5 MW roof top solar panel in its Ekala, as a part of its carbon zero facility. We intend to install 20 MW of Roof top solar by 2022 and holds a total of 300 acres in Puttlam, Sri Lanka, preliminary discussions are on for establishing a Solar Farm of 100MW with sustainable energy authority of srilanka for establishing a ground mounted solar farm as a part of country’s renewable energy plan. MELWA also holds a 50 acres of tea plantation in Wavendon, Ramboda. As of today, are valued at $1 Billion.
